Hashtags have always been important on Instagram, but now with the recent algorithm changes they are even more crucial to Instagram engagement. Studies show Instagram images with 11 or more hashtags get much higher engagement than images with 10 or fewer hashtags. But, you can use up to 30 hashtags on Instagram and I highly suggest using anywhere between 20-30 on each image you share! So how do you come up with 20-30 hashtags for every single image? Today I’m going to give you some ideas, and also give you a grouping of wedding hashtags you can copy, paste, and use on your own images.
One important rule for using hashtags: Make sure the hashtag is relevant to your image. You can’t simply save a collection of 30 wedding related hashtags and use it every single time without changes. Hashtags should reflect the image … for example, don’t use #weddingring on a picture of a wedding dress.
I recommend using the suggestions below to put together your own list of 20 “default” hashtags, and saving them to the Notepad app in your phone. That way you just need to copy and paste when you go to post on Instagram. In addition to your “default” hashtags, add up to 10 hashtags that are unique to your image.
The Best Hashtags for Wedding Professionals
If you have a hashtag for your business, use that first. Also be sure to tag your profession (for example: #weddingphotographer, #weddingplanner, #eventplanner, #weddingDJ, #weddingvideographer). Finally, be sure to tag your location (examples: #losangeleswedding, #losangelesweddingphotographer, #southerncaliforniawedding, #beachwedding) and venue if appropriate (#disneylandwedding, #fourseasonswedding, #calamigosranchwedding).
